Delano churches and others have come together and the Family Promise Day House is a reality - and it's time to celebrate. Sunday, September 18 from 2–5pm, everyone is invited to a come-and-go celebration and fundraiser. Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church has provided the house, and the Family Promise community has come together to renovate and supply it. Family Promise guests - families dealing with homelessness - will work with a case manager, take classes, use the phone and computers to search for jobs and housing, do laundry, shower, and care for preschool-age children. The day house will also be the place where school-age children will get on and off the school bus, giving them consistency and avoiding the stigma of homelessness. A rotating roster of churches are providing a place for these families to sleep.
There will be face painting, a bounce house, and other fun activities for the kids. Popsicles and popcorn will be served. Come check out all the work that has been done at the day house. and plan to sponsor kitchen utensils, a hand towel, or other needed items to finish preparing the day house for guest families.
