Mediterranean Festival 2018
St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church, 344 S. Martinson St, will hold its annual Mediterranean Festival on Friday, May 4 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sharing its heritage with the Wichita community has been a part of St. Mary's parish since it began 86 years ago. St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church is excited to continue that tradition with the 2018 Mediterranean Festival.
The festival will begin with the return of the "hafli" on Friday evening, a celebration of food, fun, and dancing! It's an experience you don't want to miss.
On Saturday, the festival will continue with delicious Mediterranean food items, featuring dishes from Lebanon, Syria, and Greece, such as hummus, cabbage rolls, kafta, and kibbee. A unique selection of ethnic wine and beer, along with an option from a local Kansas brewery, will also be available. A variety of desserts will be served, including the festival's famous baklawa sundaes. As always, the Mediterranean Marketplace will be filled with ethnic and traditional baked goods.
For 86 years, the Mediterranean Festival has allowed St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church to share its heritage and give back to the community. This year, ten percent of the net proceeds will go to support the Wichita Family Crisis Center, which supports survivors of domestic violence in our community through shelter, education, and advocacy.
