Unapproved General Meeting Minutes
November 20, 2018 6:30 P.M.
West Douglas Church of Christ
1924 W Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67203
The meeting was called to order by president Vincent at 6:35 pm. We were welcomed by Russell Ashby, West Douglas Church of Christ elder . Other attending officers were Mistie Sifford, Dorothy Crouch, Leslie Kinder, Leandra & Roger Baker, and LaVerne Blaisi.
Vincent distributed the draft agenda and they were accepted after a motion by Janice and a second by William.
Our guest speaker; Kenneth Kimble, from the Wichita Police Department shared information about their Citizens Police Academy. Residents spend thirteen weeks learning what goes on behind the scenes with both the Police and Sheriff's departments.
At 7:05pm, we suspended the meeting to enjoy a meal coordinated by our hospitality committee.
At 7:45pm, we resumed the meeting. Board members from Wichita Independent Neighborhoods conducted our Officer Elections. At 8:30pm (during New Business), the new officers were announced as: President Mistie Sifford, Vice President Vincent Hancock, Secretary Rose DeMoss, and Treasurer Pat Brown.
Our Fire Department and Community Police Officers were not able to provide reports due to prior obligations.
Treasurer Dorothy presented her report and had printed copies available.
Vice president Mistie reported on the success of the Delano Safe Treat event. Around 1,500 to 2,000 children were assisted by seven neighborhood volunteers, a WFD fire squad, and the WFD mascot. Many of our Delano businesses participated.
President Vincent shared updates on the neighborhood revitalization plan and the new Parking and Multi-modal Plan.
We approved the Caroling event to be held on Saturday, December 15th, from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. A call was issued for volunteers and candidate neighbors to visit.
We deferred choosing the preferred 2019 cleanup dates until we have met with Love Your Community and Friends University.
We approved purchasing $400 in postage for sending the 2019 neighborhood newsletters.
We approved renewing our DelanoWichita.com website before it expires on January 13th, 2019
We approved a new standing rule that money given to the Designated Fund for Delano Gateways may only be spent on Delano Gateways.
We approved a $120 reimbursement for board member thank you plaques and reimbursement for supplemental Dispatch copies.
The President shared details about the Friends clock tower lighting and other upcoming events. Our next meeting will be January 15th at 6:30 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10pm.
